This is the first year we've been able to field a women's team, but we had three or four girls drop out (all for legitimate reasons, family emergencies and such) leaving our women's team to play savage or possibly not at all. We have two experienced women who played four years entirely open, and several sophomores who are pretty decent. Point is, we want to get them on the field but we won't be able to with this few of people. If you want to play or know any girls who do, drop me a line, please.

Hey all,

Chris Schaffner wrote a great article today but it happens to use a number of images and graphs that are not suitable for copying and pasting here. So here's the post:

https://www.leaguevine.com/blog/134/power-rankings-in-ultima te/

This is an in-depth look into how we can better rank teams in Ultimate. The examples in this article talk about how to do this for a single tournament, but the concepts extend into full season rankings as well.

Please join this Google Group to chat more about ranking teams and help guys like Chris mold the future of Ultimate rankings:

Hey everyone,
Fresno State is hosting a tournament on December 1st and 2nd called the Post Turkey Tourney.
We are looking for between 10 to 16 teams to come out and compete. Costs are low, starting at $75 before November 5th. After that the prices rise to $100 per team.

I know a lot of teams have their schedules already booked for the semester but I am hoping that this tournament is far enough into the semester that most of the tournaments would have past. Also this would be a great way to end the semester as most universities have finals the second week of December.

Depending on how many players are brought down per team we might be able to host a few teams (being first come first serve).

If you have any questions or are interested in participating, feel free to either leave a message or email Chuck for more information.
Good luck to every team this semester.

The field widths at Great Lake/Central Regionals seemed to range from 33-35 yards. I really didn't realize it on Saturday until others mentioned it so I walked off a bunch of fields. Honestly I wouldn't have noticed nor did it bother me from a player standpoint.

But why is it accepted that Regionals are played with fields that are 10-20% to narrow? If the site can accomodate the appropriate field sizes, I don't see how they can be used in future series events.

Hello Women's Teams!
The UCSD Psychos are pleased to announce that we will be hosting the first annual Kendra Fallon Memorial Tournament on November 17-18 at UC San Diego. This tournament, formerly known as SoCal Warm-up, has been renamed in honor of our teammate Kendra “Punnett” Fallon, who passed away in 2010. We are now accepting bids for the women's division on a rolling basis. The cost is $250 for one team or $450 for two teams. The Psychos will provide free housing for teams that are interested.

Please send the following bid information to psycho(dot)ultimate(at)
gmail(dot)com:
1. Team name
2. Team contact name, e-mail address, and phone number
3. Number of bids requesting
4. Whether or not your team would like housing (include
approximate number of players)

For those that didn’t know her, Kendra “Punnett” Fallon was a hard-working, fun-loving ultimate enthusiast from San Francisco, CA. She joined the Psychos in 2009, but her time with us was cut short. In the summer of 2010, after her freshman year of college, Punnett volunteered at an orphanage in Kathmandu, spreading her passion for social justice and her love of ultimate. For her last adventure in Nepal, Punnett planned to hike to the base camp of Mount Everest. On August 24th, 2010, just 3 days before her 19thbirthday, her plane crashed en route, leaving no survivors and taking a beloved friend and teammate. This year would have been Punnett’s senior and final year with the Psychos. In her honor and memory, we are renaming SoCal Warmup as the Kendra Fallon Memorial Tournament.

For more information on Punnett and the causes she supported, you can visit http://giveyourgap.org/about/meet-the-team/kendra-and-julee/ .

In addition, the SKY school in Shikharpur, Nepal was founded in memory of Kendra and her travel companions. To read more or donate, visit http://www.skymemorialfoundation.org/.

We look forward to seeing you all in November!

Sincerely,
Chelsea 'Rogue' Herrmann

Can NGN or the Rob guy from Ultivillage (if he's still alive ?) give us some stats about typical audience for a live streaming ?

Even for a high profile game like CAN vs USA at WUGC2012 with good PQ at a cheap price and at a decent time, I seem to recall that the # of people viewing was surprisingly low (I think it was around 120-130 and it even dropped below 100 towards the end of the game). Is the number displayed on the client side representative of the total # of people or there are in fact multiple servers ?

The tournament will be hosted by UNC Asheville's Flying Snatch on November 17th and 18th.

It will be held on the campus of Warren Wilson college, about 15 minutes outside of downtown Asheville. Really nice fields and a beautiful campus.

There is going to be a 10 team open division, bids are $200.
Also any women's teams that are interested should get in contact, we would be more than happy to host a women's division as well if teams show interest.

email aslivano@unca.edu

Should be a great tournament to end the fall semester with and a great preparation for spring!

Heyo,

Don't miss the deadline!

The Ultimate Athlete Project will be closed to new members tomorrow (Wednesday 10/3) at 8PM.

I've got a whole year of planned programming for you. We'll start with some recuperation work for those of you who just finished up the club season. Those of you who are ready to begin now can get started with the preparation phase. After than we've got cycles of working on strength and power. Pre-season will get you in stellar tournament shape, and our in season programming will keep you sharp all season long without over-training.

If that sounds like what you want, click below to sign up!

http://www.theultimateathleteproject.com/sp/10464-september

Next opening date will likely not happen again until Jan 1st and won't give you nearly as much off season to work with. College players especially should definitely sign up now.

Just a quick note. If you want in on The Ultimate Athlete Project either for the upcoming club or college season, now is the time to sign up.

After October 3rd at 8PM The Ultimate Athlete Project will be closed to new members.

I have also decided that I will not re-open to new members until I am back from my travels in Colombia. (after Dec 19th) I am sorry for the inconvenience this will cause to some of you who were planning to start The Ultimate Athlete Project a little later. However, I don't want to be in a situation where I'm providing less than stellar customer support during your first few weeks of training.

So. If you are wanting to return to the 2013club season in stronger and better conditioned than you've ever been, NOW is the time to sign up for The Ultimate Athlete Project. The portal closes to new members Wednesday Oct 3rd at 8PM EST

Go here to get in:
http://www.theultimateathleteproject.com/sp/10464-september

And if you're wondering what I'm doing in Colombia...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfK7YuvtiOQ
The Colombian Worlds team is all in The Ultimate Athlete Project. They've been getting great results and I know you will too. I will continue to work with many of those athletes in Bogota as well as doing clinics in surrounding cities.

Hope to see you in the website. If it's not your thing, get free training advice by signing up for my 25 Tips list from my blog.

Hey everybody

My buddy and I are looking to catch a ride down to the mid-atlantic regionals from the Ithaca/ central upstate NY area this weekend, and can't quite afford the transportation options we have found thus far. We will of course be willing to help finance gas and if need be can also take over diving (not manual shift) if somebody needs a break. Ladies and Gents,

Vermont Law School Ultimate Justice will be hosting the 33rd annual Homebrew Ultimate tournament on October 20th from 9-6. As always the tournament has two themes. The first is Halloween and all teams are required to come in themed costumes and perform some sort of skit or other exhibition of talent for our viewing pleasure. The winning skit will win a legitimately awesome prize. The second theme is beer. Lots of beer. We'll have some delicious brews from Vermont breweries as well as plenty of burgers, veggie burgers, hotdogs and sides to enjoy your beers with. The cost for this amazing day of ultimate, costumes, food and beer you ask? A mere $200 per team.

Email questions or bid submissions to ujhomebrew@gmail.com

cheers!

I am writing on behalf of the Illinois State Gnomes. We have our annual fall mixed tournament, Stanley Cup coming up next weekend, the 29th and 30th of September. Our school didn't give us any leeway in regards to the date so we were stuck on the date of Club Regionals. We had hoped this would not be a problem but some teams have recently dropped because a large portion of their team will be playing at Regionals.

Due to this we are looking for any teams that might like to add another fun tournament onto their schedule. The guy girl format will either be 5/2 or 4/3. Bids for a team will be $200 for one team and $375 for two teams. If you would like to come please let us know. You would be able to pay when you get to the tournament.

As usual we will be having a little get together on Saturday night. We will also be selling some five gear at the tournament. In addition to that we will also be having some mini games to win prizes. It is always fun and a good opportunity for new rookies. We look forward to having you there!

Be sure to check out our facebook event and let us know if you have any questions. https://www.facebook.com/events/421151037929692/
