My mom passed away from MS(Multiple Sclerosis) 2 summers ago, she was the most influential person in my life and wanted to honor her in some way. So last summer I ran the first ever MS Open and was humbled by the generosity of the Ultimate community and raised close to $2,000 for the National MS Society.

Some info on the tournament. Location: Austin Minnesota, Divisions: Open and Mixed, Date: June 29th, 30th, Price: Between $200-$300

Please message me if you are interested.

Hey everyone,

So one of the Leaguevine users built something pretty awesome that I thought I'd share. Scott Blankenburg built a round-robin scheduler called Ultitrax. Basically you can quickly enter a handful of parameters and it will spit out a full schedule that meets your requirements. And then you can sync it to Leaguevine.

We hope this will save some of you time since I know a bunch of you are manually entering in games into our system to populate your season schedules still.

Here's our blog post on this if you're curious: https://www.leaguevine.com/blog/137/ultitrax-leaguevine-conn ector/

Hello Ultimate Players!
It's that time of year again where many of you start to look toward the club season and the team that many of you know as either BOHICA or Grass Fight is as well. We are honored to invite you to come out and show us what you have. We are going to start with some fun pick-up scrimmages which will end with two weekends of tryouts.

This pick up is open to everyone, and will emphasize highly competitive play. Please feel free to stop by for some or all of the pickup time.

A little bit about our team: We are the premiere co-ed team in DFW. The past two years we have gone to regionals and have fallen just short of a birth to nationals. We realize that signing on to play for a club team is a huge commitment, so we place a big emphasis on having a good time, as well as winning games. We honor ultimate for the spirited, competitive game that it is, and we attempt to blend that spirit with the drive to win. Given the quality of skill that has recommitted from last year and the level of interest we have already received from accomplished potential players, we can only build upon our previous success and aim to finally take that last big step.. This team will unquestionably be the most fun competitive team in the area and we would like for you to be a part of it.

There is one notable and significant difference from years past and the upcoming season: Leadership. While the team's past executive leadership was excellent in founding and initiating this club, they have each individually decided to step out of those roles and have subsequently been replaced with a new leadership aimed at continuing to build on the achievements we have made over the past few years, while also restructuring the organization into a club that can make that last step.

If you are interested in trying out, this is the current schedule (locations to be announced):
April 14-May 12: Sundays, 4:30; Pick-up. (This is open, though you can expect the quality of ultimate to be quite high.)

Tryouts: May 18-19 (Time and location to be announced)

Tryouts: June 1-2 (Time and location to be announced)

First Tournament: June 8-9

Please come by and see what we're all about!
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us.

Hi All,

Despite an extremely challenging week, we are finally on the ground in Austin and ready for one of the biggest and most competitive college women's events of the year. This event marks the 10th year of the women's division of College Centex, and the 5th year of partnership between myself and Melee. We are grateful for the support of so many of our friends in building this tournament, and we are committed to running the best event in the country.

We will be doing round-by-round score reporting this weekend for all 3 divisions.

The Washington Area Frisbee Club & Central Maryland Ultimate Association are pleased to announce the 2013 Chesapeake Invite & Chesapeake Open tournaments. Both events will be USAU Sanctioned and the Open will be a Select Level event (all level teams can submit bids).

Chesapeake Open - August 3-4, 2013
The Chesapeake Open will host 16 Open, 16 Mixed & 8 Women's teams at the Capitol Polo Club (South Bay Fields) in Poolesville, MD. The bid window will open in May with teams announced in early June. Exact bid dates will be announced shortly. We expect these divisions to be competitive, with several Triple Crown Tour Elite and top Select mixed teams expressing interest in this event already.

Chesapeake Invite - August 17-18, 2013
The Chesapeake Invite will host 10-12 Open, 10-12 Mixed & 8 Women's teams at Morven Park in Leesburg, VA. Conveniently located to hotels, restaurants and the DC airports, this site is new and is also hosting USA Ultimate's east coast worlds tryouts. Invitations are being extended to teams that qualified for USA Ultimate's Triple Crown Tour Elite and Pro flights as well as top Select teams. We will not be taking bids for the Invite, but if your team is interested, please shoot us an email.

For questions about either event, please send us an email at chesapeakeopen at gmail(dot)com.

USA ULTIMATE & ESPN ANNOUNCE MULTI-YEAR AGREEMENT
College Championships, Inaugural Triple Crown Tour Part of Future Programming

Boulder, Colo. (March 19, 2013)--USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, and ESPN announced today a multi-year agreement to carry the sport's major properties the College Championships and inaugural Triple Crown Tour, including the U.S. Open and the National Championships.

As part of the deal, ESPN will produce and distribute live coverage of the College Championships, U.S. Open and National Championships on ESPN3 and tape-delayed programs of the College Championships on ESPNU. ESPN3 is ESPN's live multi-screen sports network accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the award-winning WatchESPN app and through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members. The network is available in more than 83 million households nationwide to fans who receive their internet or video subscription from an affiliated provider.

"This is an exciting development for USA Ultimate," explained USA Ultimate Chief Executive Officer Tom Crawford. "The networks of ESPN represent the premier sports platform in the world, and aligning ourselves with the most powerful brand in sports puts ultimate in an extraordinary place. We are thrilled to collaborate with ESPN for the foreseeable future."

"The strategy we've discussed with ESPN will serve both the traditional television viewer as well as our young and tech-savvy membership base with multiple convenient and accessible viewing options," continued Crawford. "This approach allows us to achieve our goal of creating large-scale visibility for the sport, while satisfying the growing demand for live and on-demand content from both ultimate fans and sports fans in general. Together, ESPN and USA Ultimate have some interesting and dynamic production ideas, so we're eager to showcase our athletic and entertaining sport."

The deal gives sports fans including USA Ultimate's 45,000 members and millions of ultimate players in the U.S. unprecedented access to ultimate content.

"Carrying the College Championships and inaugural Triple Crown Tour live on ESPN3 is a true testament to our goal of serving fans," said Todd Myers, ESPN director, programming & acquisitions. "Delivering these events across platforms to more than 83 million households nationwide is great exposure for a sport that showcases the highest level of competition in ultimate sports."

The 2013 USA Ultimate College Championships will take place in Madison, Wis., May 24-27 where 40 teams will compete for a national title. Each year, more than 700 college teams from across North America compete in USA Ultimate's regular season structure to qualify for the national championship tournament.

The Triple Crown Tour represents the highest level of competitive ultimate in the world and consists of two major championship events and a regular season. ESPN's coverage of the Triple Crown Tour will begin with the U.S. Open and conclude with the USA Ultimate National Championships.

Scheduled this year for July 4-7 in Raleigh, N.C., the U.S. Open is the world's premier international ultimate tournament and features 24 of the best teams from around the globe. The U.S. Open signifies the beginning of the season-long Triple Crown Tour for elite teams and athletes from across the U.S.

The National Championships is the finale of the Triple Crown Tour and hosts 48 teams from around North America as they compete for one of the most prestigious titles in ultimate. This year's edition will take place in Frisco, Texas, Oct. 17-20.

There may be other personnal factors coming into play in the case of Brodie, but if you were a superstar with no specific pro-club attachment (i.e. a mercenary), what would you choose ?

I would assume that even a "bigger contract" doesnt imply a lot of money right now....so why go with the more diluted pool of talent ?

Greetings RSD,
Longtime reader, first contribution. I am currently traveling through Europe, amongst other things, looking to play a good amount of flatball while abroad. I have already attended the Siege of Limerick in Ireland and am signed up for a hat tourney in Granada. Any advice /suggestions for further competitions abroad would be welcome. I was initially hesitant to make this post upon seeing the mixed reaction a France-bound Frizophile got last summer after a similar query. But recent developments in the Frisbee world have spurred me to put myself out there and see what happens. With that said, what started as an intro for non-Frisbee friends and family to my travel blog, turned into a pretty exhaustive look at the current direction of the game. The first post is mostly an explanation of my nickname, while the second really dives into the Frisbee Cliff (written circa January 24th) Although, as someone astutely observed, RSD is "on life support", I am positive there are hundreds of other silent readers like myself out there who will gobble up anything Ultimate related. After a positive reaction from friends and team mates, I decided I'd like to see what others thought. So if you have the time, check out my blog. Like the recent "Mojo" article on Skyd, I expect reactions will be pretty diverse, it might come off as overly nostalgic and whimsical. Once I finish my Edinburgh-London-Copenhagen travel entries, I will upload my recap of the Siege and some updated thoughts on the Cliff fallout/ the loss of our "Mojo" and probs give this thread a bump.
Enjoy,
James

P.s. I originally intended to make this post a few weeks ago in a shameless effort to generate traffic and monetize the blog to further my travels. Well, my rampant copyright infringement has precluded that from ever happening (I like youtube.) On that note there are several Ultimate pictures I jacked from around the web with no consent. If there are any issues regarding the use of these photos, let me know and I will revise.
