RSD readers and friends,

Jughandle, a mixed team based out of Mercer County New Jersey, is recruiting for 2013. We pull players from Philly all the way to the Hoboken Area. We are the longest running club team in New Jersey, and one of 2 mixed teams in the region to make regionals six years running.

We had some solid results last year, and are looking to build on that to make our 7th year our best and luckiest ever.

We take pride in helping to develop players that have now become mainstays on our team. The don't just want to achieve big things, they want to achieve them with us. We have spent the last few years trying to create a vision and build towards it. This is the year we want to complete that vision and we are looking for a few people to complete our vision.

Off the field, we recognize the importance of having a life outside of ultimate. Many of you are in your early-mid 20s, and you should be able to enjoy many of the diverse things on offer to you. While we are close knit off the field as well (ski trips, disc golf tournaments, game nights, bar crawls and more), we aim to give people off for the 4th, Labor Day, and Memorial Day, and understand that people might miss a week or two for a family vacation or something. When we are on the field we work hard. When we are off the field we have fun.

If you are fun and talented player of either gender, who is respectful of your teammates and opponents, and the above sounds appealing to you, please email jughandlecaptains@gmail.com, and we will get you on our list. Tryouts will begin in May 5th, with a roster finalized by July for the USA-U regular season.

We are looking forward to adding some great new teammates this year.

Thanks,
Dan, Andrew, Megan and Tim

Lake Effect is a 5th year open team from Cleveland, OH. We have accepted our invitation to the USAU Select Flight.

We do not have an "official" tryout period. After each tournament, we may or may not award any number of roster spots, at which time we will also inform each player of his status.

We run track workouts on Tuesdays 7:30 PM (location changes sometimes and is communicated through email) and practice Saturdays 10:00 AM at Garfield Park.

Preseason pickup will happen at Garfield Park on May 16 and May 23 at 6:30 PM.

Our proposed tournament schedule includes: Cazenovia, No Surf, Down With the Clown, Ow My Knee, Chesapeake Open, Chesapeake Invite, Heavyweights, Club Series.

If you are interested in playing with us this year, contact manager Ryan Franz at ryan.thomas.franz@gmail.com to be added to the email list.

I am a college player with four years of experience who is going to be in California this summer and looking for any ultimate that may exist in the central valley. I know of a pickup game in Fresno and heard rumors of one in Turlock, but I don't know for sure. I will be working in Stockton for the summer so anything near there would be great whether it be pickup, summer league, or even a club team.

Hey all,

This weekend Dallas is starting an amazing fundraising event called Huck Cancer. Huck Cancer is an ultimate tournament where more than 100 players on 8-10 teams compete in an all-day event to raise money and awareness to fight cancer.

The Huck Cancer tournament benefits E.R.I.C. who aims to educate youth about cancer symptoms and body awareness through Ultimate Frisbee. Grassroots events like ours support and contribute to their ability to help recognize symptoms as early as possible. Over the past three years, Huck Cancer in San Francisco has raised more than $100,000 for LIVESTRONG, and this year our goal is to raise another $10,000 for E.R.I.C.

In order to reach our goal, I request that you consider making a donation towards this effort. All contributions are tax deductible. (If your workplace matches charitable contributions, please include the necessary paperwork to match your gift.) You can pledge to me online by going to:

http://www.dallasultimate.org/leagues/huck-cancer-hat-tourna ment/

Just scroll down and find my name and click on the donate button.

If you want to donate via check, email me back and we’ll take the steps to make that happen.

Thank you in advance for supporting this great cause!

Rumor has it that MudBowl is moving to August this year, so there's a void in June for a southern tournament. Dirty Dell is a club open tournament that will be held June 22-23 just outside New Orleans.

I am interested in compiling a list of some of the best tournaments (and the corresponding typical dates they occur) around the world. What are some that stand out in the community, particularly in the mixed division. Bonus points given for diversity of geography (maybe it's not the best tournament in the world, but it's one of the better ones in Africa for instance) and party/laid-back atmospheres (I'm not going to be participating in world-level competition). Grass, beach and hat tournaments welcome. This is just for my personal use and knowledge, because if you're going to travel, why not do so when there is an ultimate tournament in town!

You can see the list I've compiled so far, here:

The Ultimate community has been amazing in their support for Chasing Sarasota's Facebook campaign. We're getting close to our goal of 10,000 "like"s on FB. As a thank you for the generous support, I've posted the best game highlights from the film and the entire 2011 Rhino season. Check out the video at www.facebook.com/chasingsarasota (it's posted at the top)! If you could take a second to "LIKE" the page while you're there, it would help us in our quest to make Netflix take notice of Ultimate!

I can definitely pull my weight in terms of preparing, organizing, and playing with a team for this tournament.

I've been to similar tournament in Oklahoma before called Solstice, which was an amazing experience, and I'd love to help bring that wonderful experience to a team.

Please let me know if you have an open spot!

Thanks for your time, all.

Our goal is to spread the knowledge of ultimate at a competitive level while maintaining Spirit of the Game. We seek to do this by hosting clinics and tournaments focused on youth skill development and working as a TEAM rather than as individuals.

To kick the summer off we are partnering with the YMCA to host a showcase mini-tournament on Sunday, April 21 from 6pm-10pm at Salem State University.

GUIDELINES:
Teams of 6 (gender ratio: 3/1)
4 vs. 4
30 min games, best score wins.
5 games guarenteed
cost $6 per player

If you are interested send an email to M_rodriguez5@salemstate.edu detailing your interest and team name.

Hi All,

After losing all of our fields to snow, we have relocated Keystone Classic to Columbus, Ohio. A huge thank you to Rodger Oakes (Oshadega) and Cassie Swafford and Paige Soper (Ohio State Fever) for all of their help. This tournament would not be happening without them.

As usual, we will be doing round-by-round score updates this weekend.

*B*eautiful *W*inners of the Bay Area,

BW Ultimate is THE South Bay Mixed team going into its 3rd year of baller ultimate. Last year was a huge step up for us, with signature wins and competitive games against multiple Nationals qualifying teams. We qualified for the 2013 USAU Select flight. Just as important as our on field success was our off field chemistry, as we put in another great year of kicking it BW style, all day, every day. A huge part of our team is our social swag, and we like it that way!

We're looking for a few great FLATBALLERS to join our crew, to push us to the next level on the field, and to strengthen our bond off it. We hope you will join us for this process, and we look forward to seeing you this year!

**Open Tryout: Saturday, April 27 10am-2pm, Fairwood Park, Sunnyvale (http://goo.gl/maps/3FmEp)
The open tryout will be followed by a mega-BBQ!

**Closed Tryout: Saturday, May 4, 10am-2pm, location TBD

**Further closed tryout dates TBD

If you are interested in trying out, please fill out this form: http://goo.gl/rGLdg

If you can't make the Open Tryout, have questions, or want to discuss something, please feel free to email us at bw.ultimate at gmail.

Here's to a wonderful 2013 tryout and Ultimate season!

Cheers,
BW Ultimate

P.S. Please keep an eye on the Twitter and FB for up-to-date tryout news. Field closures were an issue last year, so just in case, keep your eyes peeled!
P.P.S. If you are interested in kicking it in the South Bay at all (pickup, Goaltimate, meeting up for food and drink), join us at our BW Social Google Group (http://goo.gl/uLvhW)! We're always looking to add more friends!

Brothers and sisters,

The Greater Good is returning for another season in the Bay Area mixed division! Last summer we made it to Regionals as a first year team -- accomplishing our season goal. This summer we fully intend on actively trying hard to being the best and fighting competitively in every practice, every game, and every team gathering. Teams are built on and off the field. We will take care of business during practice but are also committed to having a good time afterwards and building relationships that last after the ultimate season ends -- we are a family. That being said, we always are looking to welcome new faces to the GG family that can push us to new heights, and that's what this is all about.

Here is the tryout schedule for the Greater Good - Class of 2013:

Open Tryout #1 - April 13, 2013 10 A.M in Alameda, CA at Harrington Park
Open Tryout #2 - April 27, 2013 10 A.M in Davis, CA at Russell Field
Invite-only Tryout #3 - May 11, 2013, Time and Location TBD
Invite-only Tournament - SB Classic - May 25-26, 2013 in Santa Barbara, CA

Each tryout will be run as if it were a practice. We will focus and review a topic, run drills, and scrimmage extensively. We value our time very highly, as we do your's. So come prepared to work hard, meet new friends, and most importantly, have fun as we begin our journey into this next season. Please forward this to your friends or anyone else you might think is interested in trying out.

Please let me know if: a) you would like to be removed from this list, or b) you can or cannot make it to the tryouts. Don't be shy; ask questions if you have them. Expect a follow-up email with more details in the near future.

We're looking forward to meeting and hearing from you!

Cheers,

Emile Morales and Scott Miller, Greater Good Captains 2013

Two of us looking to find a last minute carpool situation from the Boston-ish area down to Fools Fest. Looking to leave Thursday afternoon-ish/evening. If you have spots, are looking to put together a car, or if you're even on the way down and want to work something out...

Please shoot me an email: Shaun.Krieger@gmail.com if you have any leads.

Thanks.
