Ultimate's first live storytelling series, Flatball Radio, is excited to release the trailer from its World Premiere event in Seattle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9jQFC7lWjA

We are happy to share the event that Skyd Magazine said was, "...like a handful of close friends lost together in a campfire..." and an evening that "....met the human need for intimacy and entertained us at the same time." Huge thanks to Five Ultimate for presenting this event and to Friction Gloves and RISE UP for partnering to make Flatball Radio a reality.

Stay tuned for the release of all the stories for purchase on Thursday at www.flatballradio.com. The full version of Frank Nam's "Can't Stop Won't Stop" will be released on Youtube for free that day! There will also be 2 minute previews of every story dropping throughout the following weeks.

We'll be doing lots of contests and giveaways, so be sure to check www.facebook.com/flatballradio and @FlatballRadio for all the latest.

Love,

Greetings! Just wanted to update everyone that we have set a bid deadline. Below is the original post for the tournament.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Have you ever wanted to visit New Orleans? Or have you been here before and wanted to return because you forgot the first time in a drunken Bourbon street haze? Do you like to play ultimate? Do you like to party? Have you ever wanted to drink your beer on the field in a non-discrete fashion?

If you answered yes to any of the above you should consider bringing a team to the first annual mixed tournament held right here in New Orleans, La. Yes, it will actually be in the city limits of New Orleans, not baton rouge or wherever they host Mardi Gras these days. We want to make it a competitive but very fun tournament especially since it will be what many teams will consider a pre-season tournament.

When: March 22-23rd

Where: New Orleans City Park Festival Grounds (they just redid these fields a year ago so they are pretty nice)

Who: 8 Mixed Teams

How much: $325 PayPal via tournament website: http://noultimate.com/p/2014-1st-annual-fire-on-the-bayou-in formation

What that gets you:
- plenty of ultimate of course
- Saturday afternoon party with jambalaya, live music, free beer, and Frisbee games
- lined fields etc.
- Saturday night gathering on Frenchmen street for live music (we will try to get some kind of a deal with a bar, no promises other than good music though)
- Friday night meet and greet and get drunk down in the quarter.

We hope that you and your team consider joining us in NOLA. There will be good times had and competitive ultimate played.

Afraid to come play because you don't think you have that throw? Don't worry about it because Boot is indoors, with no wind, and nine out of ten times someone on your team will tear down with whatever swill you put up. Don't think your cardio is up to snuff? Don't worry about it because you will have substitutes so you can run hard, knock down a cone or two and take a rest for a few points. Don't think you'll end up on a good team? Don't worry about it because the teams are random, which is a staple of Boot on a Tuesday night. And besides, there are enough tall people in Portland who know how to throw a hammer, so you are bound to have at least one of those people on your team. Look, there is no reason not to come to this. If I haven't sold you, food will be provided. Still not sold? How about music? Well, I don't know where you're going to find a better deal. Boot, the most challenging and fun game since actual frisbee or chess, is coming to you tournament form. Be there! March 1st.

tl;dr: Donate to our youth team so we can travel to tournaments! Thanks!

Hey All-

My name is I'm Fran Kelley. In addition to working with Midwest Ultimate and MUFA to support a lot of the ultimate around Madison, WI I also coach a high school youth team where I teach in Stoughton, WI. If any of you played in high school, you know that there isn't always a lot of district money going towards the ultimate team, but our team has run into some unique circumstances that make it more of an issue for us. I'd like to try to explain those circumstances so you don't think I'm just begging for money that we could get elsewhere.

Our district requires that we use buses or vans to transport students to any extracurricular events. Players cannot drive themselves. Parents can drive their child only and cannot offer carpools. The club/sport is required to pay for the cost of the buses/vans.
As a requirement of attaining club status, which allowed us to use school grounds to practice, we had to agree not to charge any pay-to-play fees of the players. We cannot say "hey, buses + tournament fees = x amount, pay your share of that to be on the team." The only way we can attain funds is through fundraising. (Our district does this so that they can maintain some of the lowest extra-curricular fees in the state).
Our district is entering a referendum. The basics of this mean we are asking our district residents to agree to an increase in taxes because our district is short on cash. How this affects us: We are not allowed to fundraise within the district until the referendum is over. The thinking is that residents are less likely to agree to the referendum if they have already contributed to the school in another way, like a donation to the frisbee team.

This year we hope to attend 3 tournaments (including the state tournament). We will have between 4-5 away games. We are hoping to raise funds to cover the costs of those tournament fees and busing to those games. If you'd like a detailed breakdown, I'm more than willing to give it. This isn't some get rich quick scheme, I'm just trying to find a way for my kids season to work. Last year I personally funded the entire season. I was told I cannot do that this year, nor is that feasible for years to come. We will be in this fundraising mode for 3 seasons until our probationary status ends.

I started a crowd-tilt campaign, the link you can find here: Crowdtilt Any amount that you can contribute would be immensely appreciated by me and the players. The way crowd-tilt works requires only a 30 day window so you know I wont be hitting you guys up for along. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I love talking about our team, and I think we have a real chance to do well on the field this year if we can make the season happen.

Thanks much for reading,
Fran Kelley

Not sure about your skill level?
We welcome players of any level, whether you've played before or not, to sign up with your friends and come play in a fun, friendly tournament! It's a great way to meet people, learn the game of ultimate frisbee, exercise a bit, and have tons of fun!

I'm moving to New Orleans and I'm trying to find someone that needs a roommate. I'd like to find a place in the Marigny or Mid City, but willing to look elsewhere if the place is nice and cheap. Here's some personal stats and info

29 years old
Massage therapist with an emphasis in flexability and joint mobility (if you get broke, I can fix you!)
6'1" handler with 11 years experience
Work hard, play hard, prefer doing my drinking about town
I keep my stuff clean but not weird clean
Cool with all lifestyles
I write comedy skits for shits and giggles, including 7 Unicorn horror movies, sharks on a plane, and and what if the wicked witch of the west was an nfl coach
If you need a team name, I can aid you. Some examples: Scotland Tard, Ain't Jemimah, Twisted Fister, Homie Do Play That, Shaqtopuss, Shaqnado, etc.
I know Karl Doege personally and can tell you stories
I have 2 cats that live by my 'don't suck' philosophy. They don't scratch anything and leave woodwork and couches looking like new

If you need a roommate or know someone who does, post something and we can chat. I'm moving in mid February but willing to pay for the whole month if the situation is right.

**Due to the quick turnaround and the need to setup teams, We'll be cutting of registrations tonight, but would love to have you as we have room for a few more**

Do you have Monday off? Come play full field indoor ultimate on turf!

Who: Ultimate Frisbee players wanting to have fun indoors, throwing a disc, meeting some new folks, running around for the day on MLK day. This email is only being sent to men to avoid spamming women for an open tournament (but please forward to everyone you think might be interested).

What: Open Indoor Ultimate Frisbee in a 4 or 5 team Round Robin tournament. (7 on 7, no gender ratio requirements, women are welcome, but due to the short turnaround for organizing, we'll not have any numbers requirement)

When: Monday January 20, 2014 (Martin Luther King Day). Games will start at 1:30pm and end by 6pm and you will get at least 4 hours of guaranteed play time of full field Turf ultimate.

Where: Student Recreational Sports Dome at the University of Minnesota (http://goo.gl/maps/ArRLX). Bring your cleats, this is turf!

Why: WHY NOT? $25 will get you drafted onto a team. You'll be guaranteed at least four hours of play.

Register right now at www.mnultimate.org/register.php if you're interested. There will be a draft to pick the teams (not random). You can sign up with one 'carpool' buddy in the system. Reply to this with questions.

Hello all,

Date: The date has been set for the 15th-16th of February. We are not doing a tournament with the girls this year because of a conflict in our schedules. We are both interested in increasing the level of competition and because the girls tournament will be hosted the next weekend there will not be a party.

Fee: The tournament fee is $350, due the morning of the 15th to the TD.

Fields: We will be playing on campus instead of the fields where the tournament has been held in previous years. We have access to well maintained grass fields that were used by Varsity athletics last year as well as an expansive turf field at our university's new recreational facility that was finished this past summer.

Spin sponsored: Spin is sponsoring the tournament, so there will be a merchandise table where you can buy both Spin and tournament apparel. Benefits include:

$300 credit toward custom Spin orders for the 1st place team(s).
$150 credit toward custom Spin orders for the 2nd place teams(s).
A free Spin trucker hat for each team captain to be distributed at the captain's meeting.
10% off of team uniform orders for all teams who attend the tournament.

Sanctioned: This will be a sanctioned, 16 team tournament. We will provide water and food. After the bid deadline, we will contact you regarding your invitation.

Observers: We are looking into getting observers, but it has been impossible to get into contact with USAU so we cannot confirm anything yet. More info will be provided to teams that send in a bid.

Tournament Party: For the first time in many years, the open and women's tournament will be split as a result of schedule conflicts. Unfortunately, this has lead to the temporary discontinuation of the tournament party. Alternatively, we will be attempting to provide a higher quality tournament and a competitive atmosphere for all who attend.

Send a bid with the following to hellfish.bonanza@gmail.com by February 1st to be considered:

1. Team name
2. School
3. Acceptance of the bid fee and deadline
4. Recap of your 2013 year, spring and fall
5. Describe a situation that involves your team and a background song of your choice. Feel free to use as much detail as needed.

For example,
When the Hellfish walk into a party, this song starts playing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_izvAbhExY With jackets slung over our shoulders, we scan the crowd for honeys and instantly they gather around us. A disco ball descends and the floor starts to light up. The frat guys pack up their pong tables and rufilin and leave. The wall flowers stand up and we dance the night away with all the honeys.

Thanks, and we hope to hear from you soon.

Who: 8 Mixed Teams (4/3 or 3/4 ratio)

How much: $325 You can PayPal via tournament website or if you want to work out some other kind of arrangement email noppsapc@gmail.com
