Why is it that youve all herd so much boasting about this ultimate
revolution assessment program yet not one administraitor or board
canidate(especially the ones trying to secure a board seat) are
willing to reveal the actual dollar amount that went into running that
program.

I have already offered an alternative meathod of gathering the wants
and needs of the membership that would have been way more accurate,
effecient, convenient AND cost effective. Which was to simply require
the membership to take part in a mandetory short polling in
conjunction with membership (re)registration.

So, for one its rather telling that the current administration isnt
being A LOT more transparent in revealing this cost(AS WELL AS
OTHERS.......8K for the current upa logo?????) to the
membership.......which didnt even produce a 10% membership feedback.
And for another, if they can and will justify this expence(without our
consent or approval) whose to say what else they will mis (or simply
OVER) spend out collective money on. THATS OUR FUCKIN MONEY THEY ARE
SPENDING UP THERE......NOT THEIRS.

The UPA budget is open for all members to view. If anyone complains
they don't know what something cost, I suggest they go to the UPA
website and do some research.

Joe... where is it? I'm game to check up on how much the design work
ended up costing, but couldn't find a link to budgets. And after
searching for "logo" in the 2007 and 2008 minutes, nothing popped up
for me. Help?

I assume you've already submitted a proposal to the board to require
an itemized budget to be published to the membership on a daily/
monthly/biannual/annual/biennial basis? Or a proposal to require the
UPA officials to drop everything and hunt down specific numbers
whenever you call?

While you're hunting, could you find out for me how much the UPA spent
on pencils and erasers this year? I think if we hired more competent
staff, we could eliminate the need for erasers and perhaps save some
money by purchasing refillable pens. You may add that to your
platform if you want. Todd Leber, saving the UPA revolutionizing
ultimate, one erasure at a time!

Colin, it's already in the UPA bylaws to publish a financial report
for the membership on an annual basis. I just asked the UPA directly
about this, and the next report will be published in the winter
edition of the magazine.

Joe, nope, the budget is not on the website at all, although I wish it
was. I was just told that it is printed in the newsletter, and most
governing bodies don't put this info online, unfortunately for us.

A membership to Guidestar will allow you to look at any non-profit's
tax statements, but I'm not sure if you can get a breakdown on each
individual expense.

I'm willing to bet the 100 dollars that throwup is gonna give me for
the pile of my shit for getting elected to board that NO ONE is gonna
reveal the itimized costs of that ultimate revolution.

That still leaves the option for the daily, monthly and biannual
reports, as well as the "drop everything and cater to Todd"
proposals. And a proposal outlining the level of detail that should
be included in the financial report.

Hmmm, on my first look, all I found are the Minutes, but not the
budget. The budget used to be posted in years past (I don't remember
the last time I saw it and I haven't looked in quite a few years). If
I learn anything, I will post it. If it is no longer posted, I
apologize for my error. Perhaps it became a privacy issue since non-
members can view the website. Don't know...

Yes, I just discovered that the Budget is only posted in the magazine.
Sorry for the error. Since the Strategy effort has been multi-year, I
assume previous budgets will show an entry for it for that year.

Mea culpa...

The UPA budget is not posted on the website nor in the quarterly
magazine. The UPA final financial audit is included in the quarterly
magazine once a year. I apologize for the error.

The UPA budget is quite long and detailed. What I would hope the UPA
Board would consider in the future is to publish in the quarterly
magazine a summary of the annual budget. It doesn't need to include
the detail down to the lowest Chart of Accounts level, but it could
include the major Chart of Account levels.

I would caution though, that reading the UPA budget (like reading any
budget) without some background or listening to the lengthy
discussions that go on in the Board, may be confusing. I've been
involved with budgets in my professional work for 30 years. And it's
hard to understand a budget without looking at the previous one(s) for
comparison. It also is impossible to know what the tradeoffs were
without sufficient explanation of what wasn't included and why. To
publish all of this is probably impractical. At some level, every
organization must trust their leaders to some extent... I can't wait
for the replies to this ;)

especially when they dont seem to be all that transparent about their
spending habbits?

i mean dont ya think its odd that henry thorn and kyle w know all
there is to know about the ultimate revolution yet they dont know how
much it costed the membership. Or could it be that they just dont
want to reveal that info?
