11 SouthPaw
12 Ring of Fire

Ring probably would have gotten the 5 if they won the region and the 6 if they didn't lose to SouthPaw. As it stands Ring has to be below Southpaw, but I would pull them both above FG.

Furious has a loss against Ring and a win against SouthPaw and no real quality wins outside of that, so they seem over seeded at 10.

That leaves me with:

9 Streetgang
10 SouthPaw
11 Ring of Fire
12 Furious George
13 Machine

Could say the same thing about Streetgang and PoNY...

Machine has beaten both southpaw and streetgang,ad lost
By 1 to both furious and pony. They seem quite low
Especially considering they won their region.

At Colorado Cup Street Gang lost to Machine 15-8 and also Madison 13-14. You guys are way over seeding San Diego.

Machine absolutely crushed Southpaw (MA2) at Chesapeake but then also lost a tight games to PoNY (NE2), GOAT (NE4) and ECU (NW5). Southpaw also got crushed by Furious (NW3) but it's hard to push Southpaw down any further knowing that Ring has to be seeded lower. I'd guess that Machine has a leg up on Southpaw because they qualified for nationals last year. Same can be said about PoNY. The folks at USAU seem to put a lot of weight on the results from previous years.

I think it could shake out like this:

1. Ironside (NE1)
2. Revolver (NW1)
3. Doublewide (SO1)
4. Chain (SO2)
5. Truck (MA1)
6. Sockeye (NW2)
7. Bravo (SW1)
8. Machine (CN1)
9. Southpaw (MA2)
10. Ring (MA3)
11. PoNY (NE2)
12. Streetgang (SW2)
13. Furious (NW3)
14. Madison (CN2)
15. Madcow (CN3)
16. Tanasi (SO3)

Pool A: Ironside, Machine, Southpaw, Tanasi
Pool B: Revolver, Bravo, Ring, Madcow
Pool C: Doublewide, Sockeye, PoNY, Madison
Pool D: Chain, Truck, Streetgang, Furious

Some notes:
-Ring's only losses outside of Regionals were to Chain, Revolver, and Ironside. I think bumping them to 10th is way underseeding (especially for a 6th place finisher last year) so I'm inclined to push Southpaw up.
-Machine has beaten Southpaw but has no other quality wins over Nationals or near-Nationals opponents from out of their region (and they finished 14th last year so they dont get the benefit of the doubt). Seeding them 8th is too high.

I believe the right seeding is:
1. Ironside
2. Revolver
3. Doublewide
4. Chain
5. Truck Stop
6. Sockeye
7. Bravo
8. Southpaw
9. Ring
10. PoNY
11. Machine
12. Streetgang
13. Furious
14. Madison
15. Madcow
16. Tanasi

Yeah my initial instinct was to move both SouthPaw and Ring up more, but while 10 is certainly way underseeding Ring, isn't 8 overseeding SouthPaw? If Ring wins that game, they probably come in at 6 and SouthPaw looks like a 14.

For me, beating Ring isn't enough to move a 14 to a 8. Ring can't really complain about being underseeded - they lost when it counted. I tried to think about where I would seed a team with the combined results of Ring and Southpaw and for me that team ends up around 10.

I think you are right that Streetgang probably makes more sense as a 12 than an 8 or a 9 though.

Indeed, if you want to use Southpaw's results to determine overall seeding then PoNY and Machine move up, Ring and Southpaw move down. On reflection, this is very defendable and does give a nicer pool structure with fewer rematches.

1. Ironside
2. Revolver
3. Doublewide
4. Chain
5. Truck Stop
6. Sockeye
7. Bravo
8. PoNY
9. Machine
10. Southpaw
11. Ring
12. Streetgang
13. Furious
14. Madison
15. Madcow
16. Tanasi

Hard to say, but seems like Sockeye should be ahead of Truck. Even though H2H gives Truck the 14-13 advantage, I think it may have been too early to judge where teams are now. I know it was only mid august, but thats also a tourney where Sockeye beats Revolver 15-8, and Revolver is hands-down 2 seed. Considering past Natties results as well, where Truck loses to the 3rd place NW team in the play in round and finishes 9, with the NW finishing 2,3T, and 7.

And I'm sure Ring will break seed if they're seeded 11 or lower, but unfortunately the regional results probably dictate that they fall at least that far, right?

1. Ironside (NE1)
2. Revolver (NW1)
3. DW (SO1)
4. Chain (SO2)
5. Sockeye (NW2)
6. Truck (MA1)
7. Bravo (SW1)
8. Machine (CN1)
9. PoNY (NE2)
10. Southpaw (MA2)
11. Ring (MA3)
12. Madison (CN2)
13. Streetgang (SW2)
14. Furious (NW3)
15. Madcow (CN3)
16. Tanasi (SO3)

To be fair, I'm mostly doing this to procrastinate, but I'd bet it shakes out pretty close to this. All the 1 seeds in the top 8. Only one 3 seed higher than any 2s (Ring) and only two 2s higher than 1s (Chain, Sockeye).

You're probably thinking of Seth Reinhardt. He used to play for Cornell.

Can you really rank Southpaw that high? They have had several losses to non-national teams, including a trouncing by Furious (who will probably be ranked below them) and only two big wins (Pony and Ring). Does this one win against Ring really allow them to jump six positions in the rankings? (My guess if they took the third seed with a loss to Ring they probably would be ranked around 14th)

I think Ring should be punished in the rankings for their lose to Southpaw more than Southpaw should be rewarded. Southpaw lost badly to a lot of teams this year and only had one big win (albeit a big win). #9 for Southpaw seems way to high.

Also, Sockeye should probably be ranked ahead of Truck, even though they have that dgp loss.

If you go to H2H first in seeding teams, PoNY ought to be ahead of Southpaw, Machine, and Streetgang.

Wins against Paw and Machine at Chesapeake (pre-quarters and pool play). Win against Streetgang at ECC.

I think aghesquiere's 2nd go-round is right.

1. Ironside
2. Revolver
3. Doublewide
4. Chain
5. Truck Stop
6. Sockeye
7. Bravo
8. PoNY
9. Machine
10. Southpaw
11. Ring
12. Streetgang
13. Furious
14. Madison
15. Madcow
16. Tanasi

A lot like the last team from the south to take a 3 spot, el diablo: a lot of youth and energy. Better handlers than el diablo had.

Impressive players:

Conger (i think) - fella from Virginia's run at college nats along with robert runner. Will prob touch the disc more than any other player.

#36 - Blonde kid making hella tough catches and layouts. If he is still in college, athletic enough to take over college games.

# 81 (i think), Gray - quick, long receiver from Alabama. Prob an unknown to people outside the south. One of those guys who you just wanted to see on a good team so he could test his potential.

While they are better than el diablo was 2 years ago, I don't think it will be enough to win a game. No disrespect, it's just hard as hell.

Can't be Nicky. He's a fat kid. I heard Tanasi has 3 guys who were FOTY's a few years ago, and the rest are scrubs.

Sweet jerseys though.

Also, for real, Nicky, Gray, and Conger are studs. Also props to Captains Ray Davenport (Auburn 2007), and Cameron Amey (UCF 2006), and Ryan Balch (Duke 1948).

#66 Tanasi
