Haven't seen much talk about this.

I see 2 major candidates in both SW and NW.

Tommy Li of claremont played junior worlds.
Zander Padget of colorado was probably the best high school player
last year.

In the north there's Ben Funk at Stanford, and Sam Brickwedde on
Oregon. The former of which was one of the best juniors player last
year and the latter a junior worlds alternate.

Any talk? What are these guys doing for their teams?

Also Evan Winograd by the looks of the UVTV videos seems to be doing a
lot for Wash U. so he's a definite possibility in the south.

For the South, while Evan Winograd has been solid and makes a
difference on the field for Wash U, his impact didn't truly translate
into wins. A team that has definitely been helped by the successes of
freshmen has been Kansas. Freshman handler Vinny Ciaramitaro has been
a starting handler on D sets and plays on major O points as well. He
made his impact early in the fall season scoring 4 Calahan's in two
tournaments. What helps him be so successful is that he rarely turns
it over, makes very smart decisions (especially for a Freshman), and
comes up with big plays when we need them the most. Its very hard to
overlook the improvements and strides Kansas has made since last year
and even over the course of this season... That can be attributed to
the Freshman growing up fast and helping overall team chemistry. He
definitely deserves a good strong look at FOTY for the South region.

I'd like to throw one name into the hat for the New England FOTY
discussion: Amuyla Iyer, Williams College. This Needham High alum
stands out for his intensity and swagger. Time and again, Iyer
seemingly wills himself to make the game-changing play with his
fitness and heart. A fierce, vocal competitor, Iyer never gives the
opponent anything he isn't planning on taking back by the end of the
game. Regardless of the outcome of the award, one thing is for sure:
This exciting player's battle cry will certainly ring in many big
games on Sundays for years to come.

I'm tired of the Ozarks section getting all of the FOTY's since
Franchise in 05. There are two extremely worthy candidates in the
Texas section.

First, if it's true that UT's Will (?) is a freshman, than he should
be mentioned here. Looking up to Franchise, he has the developing
skill set of Presley. He plays and handles on most all O points for
UT, which helps Franchise and DJ run up top.

For UNT, Zach Riggins has blown up for them. UNT lost big names (Matt
Randall, Jake Anderson) this year and no one has worried because RZA
has taken over those missing pieces. He single-handedly won a game
for UNT at Mardi Gras, elevating to levels only his team mate Dan
Emmons knows about. Seriously consider Zach as a FOTY front-runner,
Texas and TxState both know him for his play.

Bring it back to Texas baby.'

This award is has nothing to do with what Section a player is from,
its what Region. Section should not go into consideration for voting a
player FOTY. It is totally irrelevant.

The Ozarks section is much more of a ultimate community and they know
each other very well. Not to say that Hops and Matt Jackson aren't
great players, but a big reason players from that section win is
because of the familiarity. I guess I should have put "all of the
SOUTH FOTYs"

Vinny deserves FOTY not only because of his stud handling, great D,
and good decision making, but also because he has calves the size of
most people's thighs.

Michael Hickson from UCF should be a name thrown in the hat for AC
FOTY. Standing at 6'6", this kid has made some big plays for us on
offense being a main cutter (coming down with some impossible stuff),
and on defense he is relentless (laying out everywhere). He played a
half a year of club before joining UCF, and he has made a big
transition as a all-around player; as his throws have become better
than any of those who have only played half a year of competitve
ultimate. Unfortunately, he broke his wrist at sectionals trying to do
a very stupid layout-flick greatest. <--- which by the way was a
complete failure and very funny.

Any discussion of FOTY in the NE has to include Ben Weyers from
UConn. The kid plays smart, doesn't turn it over, and plays extremely
hard on both sides of the disc while maintaining a high level of
sportsmanship and class. Oh, and he's a 6'5" beast who's all but
untouchable deep. Obviously there's plenty of talent spread across
our populous region. But when you look at the impact he's had for
UConn as well as the numbers he's put up against some very solid
teams, Ben Weyers deserves votes.

for the ac region I would like to say that Nick Fletcher (#4) from FSU
is the best freshman/first year player (he is a sophomore in school
but first year playing on team) that I have seen in the region. this
comes from my experience of being at acc championships, college
terminus, easterns, and florida sectionals. In helping as an assistant
coach, I have matched him up against the best big men from every team
that FSU played and he has held his own with them to say the least.
With FSU being a small sqaud with a lot of rookies, he has been
instrumental on the offense and defense. the kid plays with a lot of
heart and it will be exciting to see him continue to get better.

Yes, it has happened before. 2004 South Region FOTY: Ryan Kilmer was
NOT a Freshman (http://www.upa.org/college/all-region/2004)...
