I'm looking for suggestions for formats.

6 fields.

16 teams? Four pools of four w/ byes rotating by pool (ex: pool A has BYE round 1) is the best way, right? Other suggestions?

18 teams? Six pools of three?

20 teams?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks,

Torre H.

~~~~~~~~~~
-6 fields, 12 teams.
2 pools of 6.
5 pool games to 15.
4 games saturday.
1 game sunday morning.....followed by....
quarters, semis and finals AND 3/4 game, consolation semis and finals and 7/8 place game
AND....losers bracket semis and finals for the bottom 4 teams and an 11/12 place game.
that's 5 pool games AND 2 more games for the bottom 4 teams=7 games.
and....5 pool games AND 3 more games for the top 8 games=8 games.
battle.
First thing to decide is if you have enough daylight for 6 rounds and how important it is for each team to get 4 games on Saturday.
If you only have time for 5 rounds, then with 4 pools of 4 with each pool having a bye as you said, and then cross over games with 2v3 and 4v4 and the teams that win their pool being done for the day. If you have time for the 6th round, then you can have the teams that win their pool play each other in 2 showcase games or even go straight to prequarters.
For 18 teams, I would make time for 6 rounds. Start with 6 pools of 3. Then after the first 3 rounds reseed into 6 new pools, 2 A pools, 2 B pools, and 2 C pools. Gives everybody at least 2 competitive games and 4 total for Saturday.
For 20 teams, you could just do 3 games per team. 5 pools of 4 over 5 rounds. You could do a 6th round with the bottom 10 teams playing crossover games.
