A number of players have correctly pointed out that April 6th is a holiday for some folks. If your work or school is closed on the 6th, feel free to bring your disc on the 5th! It's all about promoting Ultimate, so make it happen as best as you can.

hey mr. anonymous mdg.mitch....you zany thread jacker.
No, the word i was looking for was paten. A disc would make a very functional "paten" in a Good Friday Eucharistic ceremony, etc.
We've been over this before about my protest-bet with Kenny Dobyns (The only guy in the USA Ultimate hall of fame who's poor sportsmanship is alluded to in his bio write up...btw).
I'll quote ultimatesamwood's Feb. post on the subject. Nobody seems to be questioning his statements, etc.
Read it again ...and have a good day on that end. Later, Peter Mc
>>>>>>>>
if we replaced "Ultimate Peace" with "UOA," would we still defend Mr Dobbyns request of Mr Mc?
Or to take it further, what if we replaced "Ultimate Peace" with "White Revolution," one of the more violent American neo-Nazi groups.
This isn't Celebrity Jeopardy, and no one made/accepted the wager on behalf of his favorite charity.
Unless otherwise specified, the wages of a bet go from the losing party to the winning party. What the winning party chooses to do with those wages is that party's choice.
Mr Mc isn't necessarily "wrong" in insisting to send the money to Mr Dobbyns. But he is losing in the court of public opinion. (Not because he's failing to pay up a la Toad, but based on the fact that there is universal support for Ultimate Peace.)
I'll quote ultimatessamwood's Feb. post.

Anonymous? really. i know he doesn't sign his posts with a funny made up name and claim to have some sort of "archive" but he's hardly anonymous. ovbserved at nationals, several times. officiated in the UOA, at some point. name, Mitch. i don't want to out him or anything, but i know his last name starts with a "D" so i assume that MGD are his initials.
anyways, so you have decided that ultimatesamwood is some sort of official on betting payoffs? he works in Vegas? how is his opinion that you don't have to send the money you "want" to send to the place the guy you "want" to pay wants you to some sort of end all be all? why don't you quote that Euh clown. or maybe make another account and quote yourself. you lost the bet by your own admission and I'll quote some anonymous poster here to make it official: "real men pay their debts"
if you want to pay it. pay it. pay it how the guy you want to pay wants it paid.

Lance Marput wrote on Thu, 05 April 2012 13:18hey mr. anonymous mdg.mitch....you zany thread jacker. you don't seem to grasp the word anonymous very well. either that, or i've done a very poor job of hiding my name (Mitch Dengler) on usenet. you know, usenet...that place where you realistically can't delete posts.
and I did read what ultimatesam wrote. (for the record, I actually know Sam and have observed games with him). I respectfully disagree with him, as do others. anything can be taken to an extreme to make it look bad.
Kenny is free to do whatever he wants with his winnings. the fact that he is considered an unspirited player or has his poor spirit mentioned in his h.o.f. bio doesn't change anything.
he won. you lost. he wants the money to go to a charity for children. you are depriving the children of the money because you think it might help kenny's image somehow. well, you have affected someone's image here, but it's not kenny's.
stop stealing from children on that end.
anonymously yours,
mitch dengler

Thanks for posting your name Mitch...I don't keep a database of the monikers out here on rsd.
You appear to be a rules guy ON the field but not one OFF the field. I'm a bit of rules guy ON and OFF the field.
Thanks for perpetuating a myth that I'm "stealing from children" because i didn't bow to Kenny D's wishes. I'll pass that datapoint along to the ultimate youth coordinator I'm working with on this end.
Putting up with Dobyn's antics simply isn't my cup of tea. He wasn't playing by-the-rules of betting...so i called him on it. He then questioned my honesty to "push my buttons."
Have a good week on that end and best of luck with any upcoming ultimate related efforts.

Hey Mr. The "Anonymous guy" Fan,
Yeah, I'm working on that actually.
Just this morning I requested a box from our records center ...from a collection of slang/colloquialisms.
An amazing collection...near 1000 linear ft. of materials collected over a lifetime by a San Francisco Mission District native, Peter Tamony.
It's one of the best slang collections in America...according to the US representative for the Oxford English Dictionary (he visited our office years ago...part of a lecture series).
That collection description> http://shs.umsystem.edu/manuscripts/invent/3939.html
Tamony collected all sorts of printed materials on early jazz, rock & roll, sports, sexual deviance, drug culture, gambling and other assorted ne're do well subjects ....since so much slang comes out of such communities.
He also has a few sweet disc sport related documents.
If I can find any relative info in that collection I'll drop you a note next week.
Otherwise I'll consult some sort of betting expert...or maybe the local chief of police or the local college football coach. Those two hang out at the same pubs & coffee shops as myself.
I'm heading out for the weekend now.... myself and others are having lunch with a old Mizzou ultimate alumni at the local disc sport pub hangout, www.broadwaybrewery.com . He is back in the United States for research or something (physics researcher).
Have a good weekend on that end...and Peace be with You.
Later,
Peter Mc

wait. so you have referenced these rules a few times in this thread. i imagine, though i'm not sure, that you referenced them in the other thread about this subject.
but you don't have them. you MIGHT know where some sort of list of slang terms is. and if it's not in there you are going to ask two fellows who hang out at the pub and coffee shops with you?
really?

I'm a rules guy off the field too. You lost. Pay up. Those are the rules. He told you where to send his money, send it, in his name.
I seriously wonder about your mental abilities. No joke.

Technically, you don't have to pay Ultimate Peace the money you owe KD. Just like, technically, you don't have to hold the door open for someone behind you, or you don't have to give up your seat on the bus to an elderly lady, or you don't have to say "excuse me" when you bump into someone.
But, technically, all those things make you a big weenie, technically.
PS. You're deluded if you think KD gives enough of a rat's ass about you to want to "push your buttons". Puh-lease...

interrupt his morning coffee group with my bet scenario....since rsd Bobus has agreed
that Dobyns' wily veteran 3rd party song &dance doesnt have

mdsc I believe he said roughly "since technically you are a complete a-hole." or something along those lines on that end.
You are like the sleazy lawyer getting his guilty as sin client off by violating ethics, but no one else the wiser, at least technically.
You lost. Pay up.

Stop threatening to ask all the semi official sounding third party wackos and post the Damn rule book. Or at least the part that says you don't need to honor the request of the person to whom you lost the bet.
Stop coming up with nicknames for people too. You're not very good at it.

Technically, I could be wrong too... I'm not a lawyer. In the corporate world, companies can buy and sell debt with the *legal* obligation transferring from one creditor to another. Maybe the same principle could apply here.
Whatever the case, you don't even value your reputation as being worth $50 and that's kinda sad.
PS. "semi-official sounding third party wackos" - totally gonna steal that line, good one!
